The shadows fled from about his carcass as Fang crept from the darkness of the trees. He sensed another behind him but he was almost sure it was Layla. Even if it weren't he didn't fear what it could be.
The grass was pitch black beneath his paws but was completely alive and healthy. Something within this terra cursed all that thrived within it but the wolves. Anything that dwelled within these lands was turned to a pitch black. Though Fang couldn't understand it he also didn't question it. Darkness was his life as well.
Quietly he walked, smelling his surroundings. None other seemed to be near besides him and Layla. Soon he came to the cliff. It rose high upward, so hig that to look at the top you'd have to bend your head back almost straight. He smiled. "Here we are." He said his voice low almost a hiss. He glanced behind him.

Layla followed behind him stopping next to him feeling the warmth radiating from him as she got closer. She looked up and around and smiled. "beautiful place" she licked him admiring the darkness of the land consuming everything it touched.

"A legend thrives here," He said quickly running up to the towering stone. He scaled the side as he walked beneath the rock. "Lights and Darks may have different versions but the Dark seems more interesting in this case."
"It was said that long ago the dark wolf leader who ruled over these lands claimed a powerful strength, magic. He was able to do with it whatever he wished. The wolf king grew angered and jealous of the Lights. No matter where or how dark the lands were he always found the Lights in his terras."
"So, he decided to create a terra only darks would dare enter. He created this black forest, and with placed a curse upon the lands so that all that entered would turn a pitch black and thrive off evil. Soon many Lights were forced to change alliances because of the curse. The king gloried in his labor."
"Eventually the king grew old and was driven to pass on his power. But he didn't want to give his power to just anyone. So he made this cliff as an obstacle. To any wolf who could get within this stone wall, he would inherit the powers of the king. Many wolves had tried climbing the great height but all of violently failed."
He glanced up the great cliff then returned to Layla. He curled his body about her, once again sharing his warmth. Warmly he licked her softly. "And now we own the terra. Keeping anyone from taking the power the king had hidden." He gave her a teasing smile.

She listened intently to the story and an evil smirk came to her face when she heard the last part "oh and have you ever wanted that power? and what would you do with it?" she looked at the cliff smiling mischeviously "doesn't look to hard" she said

He smiled lightly at her curiousity. "Power would be sweet but all depends upon if the story is really true. I've heard it once or twice myself from others but I figure it a myth." He glanced up the cliff again. "But don't make the mistake of the climb being easy. Though the story itself may not be true, the wolves climbing only to fall to their deaths is. All have taken the task as easy only to fail terribly." He turned back at her his eyes shining wickedly. "I have seen a few whose blood have been spilled upon this stone."

He smiled slightly before looking back up the stone wall. It jutted straight up, it's jagged edges cutting the sky. He looked back at her with a slight smile, then looked back into the darkness of the forest. "Ready to see my den?"

A smirk marked his maw as he lunged into the darkness of the forest. Eager to be off.

Skillfully he tore through the foliage. Pouncing over fallen trees, and ducking under low branches. He watched her as she stayed beside, keeping up with his quick bound.
Suddenly he lurched in front of her and took a sharp turn in front of her, towards his home. He ran for a few moments then slid to a stop.
His den lied hidden within a pile of boulders. The scent of death was strong. Smiling he approached his shelter. Then turning toward her he announced, "Welcome to my humble home." Then without looking back he slipped into the fairly wide opening, into the darkness of the den.

Layla smiled sniffing the air smelling and enjoying the scent of death. She grinned evilly then slid down and into the den.

The den itself was large, perfect for the two. His eyes adjusted quickly as he crept through the few tunnels which led him from one room to another.
He glanced back at her. "Darkness is my own. Remember that." Then he disappeared into the darker reaches of the blackness.

She smiled walking behind him looking at the den then continuing after him without making a sound as she crept.

He crept through the fairly large tunnel. Though he could not hear her behind him he could smell her scent. Then he came to a large opening in the tunnel, larger than the many others they had passed. Each opeing led to others tunnels and chambers. Silently he slipped into the chamber. Dry leaves covered the floor, bring warmth from the coolness of the den. Though it was damp, it would keep them cool through the hot summer days. It was perfect for more than 3 wolves to live in, making it even more comfortable for him and Layla.
